My Necessary Morning Routine

Hey you, can I share something with you?

Have you ever felt a twinge of guilt when you hear people preach the value of a morning journal routine because you’d honestly rather stay in bed?! I know I have…

Self-help authors, life coaches, and the like have built entire brands around this practice. Countless books, spiritual leaders, therapists, even my business coach…

they all talk about the value of starting the day quietly, writing in a journal.

It wasn’t until recently that I actually started to implement this practice in my own life on a regular basis, and I gotta tell you – I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner.

Without some time alone in the morning, my day starts with chaos instead of quiet, reactivity instead of reflection, and let me tell you – when this happens, it’s hard to catch up!

So now I do my best to wake up an hour before everyone else in the house and start the day with intention. I never want to wake up that early, but I’m always glad I did.

Without these prompts, I often don’t know what to write about and find myself just staring at a blank page wishing I was still in bed.
